BOS Vessel Size:M Attic at ChatswoodMolten steel cascades from a basic oxygen steelmaking vessel at Port Kembla Steelworks, sparks arcing across the converter hood as orange stained concrete absorbs the light. Basic oxygen steelmaking was introduced at the steelworks in 1972 in 200 250 tonne vessels, replacing the open hearth furnaces that had operated since 1931. Part of the BlueScope Port Kembla series.
